A Safe, Nurturing and Compassionate School Community

At Edintervention School, the wellbeing and safety of every young person sits at the heart of our work. We know that children learn best when they feel secure, valued and understood. Our pastoral and safeguarding systems are designed to provide consistent care, clear support pathways and trusted relationships that help each learner to thrive.
We take a relational, trauma-informed approach to pastoral care, recognising that many of our pupils have faced barriers, setbacks or difficult experiences before joining us. Our staff work closely with families, carers and external professionals to make sure every child receives the right support at the right time.

Our Pastoral Approach

Our pastoral system is built around the values that define Edintervention: Engage, Educate and Enjoy.
This means:
building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families.
teaching social, emotional and self-regulation skills alongside academic learning.
creating a positive, supportive school culture where success is celebrated and every child feels they belong.
Every pupil has a dedicated pastoral lead who gets to know them well, monitors their wellbeing and coordinates support. Through daily check-ins, restorative conversations and personalised interventions, we ensure each learner feels heard and supported.
Our pastoral team works hand-in-hand with teachers, mentors and therapeutic practitioners to provide:
Emotional support and mentoring
Attendance support and family liaison
Social and communication skills work
Behaviour coaching using relational practice
Support with transitions, routines and expectations
Access to internal specialist staff where appropriate

A Trauma-Informed, Relational Culture

Many of our pupils arrive with previous negative experiences of education. To rebuild trust and confidence, we focus on:
Predictable routines and clear boundaries
Low-stress, relational de-escalation approaches
Restorative conversations and solution-focused dialogue
Helping pupils understand their emotions and triggers
Celebrating strengths and progress, however small
We believe that positive relationships drive positive behaviour.
Our approach is supportive, consistent and rooted in mutual respect.
