Paul Derbyshire
Founder, Proprietor
and Director of Education
Paul founded Edintervention in 2019 and is Joint Proprietor and Director of Education, bringing extensive experience across mainstream, alternative and specialist SEND education.
Paul began his career in the Royal Navy, serving until 2005, before moving into education and qualifying as a PE teacher. He graduated in 2008 with a First-Class Honours degree from Liverpool John Moores University.
He spent over seven years working in mainstream schools across Greater Manchester, where he successfully established and led an internal alternative provision to support pupils with complex behavioural and emotional needs.
Paul later became Head of Behaviour at a Key Stage 4 Pupil Referral Unit in Salford, gaining invaluable experience within the alternative provision sector and developing the expertise that led to the creation of Edintervention.
Since founding the organisation, Paul has driven its growth from an alternative provision into a specialist SEND setting, including school, hub and post-16 pathways. His leadership remains central to expanding progression opportunities and delivering high-quality support for young people across Salford and Greater Manchester.
